American University of Paris?

1) Is it a good school?

2) Is it easy to learn enough French to transfer to a French uni after a year? It's just so incomprehensibly expensive, so I was kind of debating moving to a cheaper school after a year. (I was thinking La Sorbonne Paris IV.) I know a good bit of French already, but I've never really been immersed in the language enough to know if I'm good or not :P

3) If one were to stay is it relatively easy to get into a French grad school? Also, would it be enough of a preparation for the rigor of the French uni system? ( I plan to stay in France for my career, or move back to America for a career that doesn't demand an American accredited degree.)

4) Also, as a side note, for those of you who've attended, or are familiar with the school, is living with a host family for freshman year very limiting? I just don't want to have a curfew or anything like that; however, if the demands of the family are not too great, I would love to partake of this living arrangement, so I could improve my French at a more accelerated pace, and experience the French lifestyle.

Search this site - there is someone from AUP who writes here from time to time - so you could PM him/her with these questions.

But before you have your heart set on moving to France, read up just how hard it is for an American to be able to stay in France to work. It’s not like moving to another state.
