@BL3001 go to financial aid. About 3/4 down is ‘View financial award letter’ or something like that.
So i wasn’t able to make a myAU account BUT i tried to reset my password with username sequence that (@lagdgp) explained and AUID and it says.
“You do not have any security questions and answers set up in the Self-Service Password Reset system. Please contact the IT Help Desk at 202-885-2550 Helpdesk@american.edu for assistance. Thank you.202-885-2550 or helpdesk@american.edu for assistance. Thank you.”
Could this mean that my account just hasn’t been set up yet because it says I don’t have any security questions set up
@faZed672 I have also heard that. I hope that is not the case with you.
@lagdpg I have a section that says “View Financial Award Letter” but when I click on it it says “error to load” or something like that. I assume that means I didn’t get anything? sorry for all the questions!!!
@sagh527 probably. Contact the help desk now. I mean could you sleep otherwise?
I wasn’t able to get into the portal an hour ago but I am now. AU really needs to do a better job with their admissions process tbh
@BL3001 it’s probably just an error. Even if you weren’t awarded extra, there would still be a letter offering the insubsidized federal loan. It’s probably just taking time for them to populate everything. Best of luck!
@lagdpg thanks so much for your help :)!
my finances tab is working now, I was awarded the dean’s scholarship of $15,000 a year and an unsubsidized loan of $5,500 a year
@collegepls41 i did what you tried and i received a different response than the 5605 error and account disabled that you received. the response i got is in post #241
@beastmode69 I hear you re: process but I really don’t think they should have to guard against prospective students trying to access their portals ‘early.’ They send out a letter and want their accepted students to be able to access the myAU account right away. Timing it otherwise could mean frustrating people who wait for their letter before trying to log on.
Interesting, if you do the reset with wrong/incorrect credentials you get the “You do not have any security questions and answers set up in the Self-Service Password Reset system.” When I do it with my correct credentials, but I haven’t been able to make an account, I get the 5065 “Account is disabled.” error.
I wonder if this means the account is in the system but hasn’t been enabled yet? I feel like the fact that people have said its done in waves supports this, but idk. I guess we will find if it comes in the mail tomorrow.
@collegepls41 when i reset password it asks me to enter in my username and AUID. i used the username sequence another user said would be our username for myAU. it’s your first initial and second initial and then your last 4 numbers of your AUID. then the second box asks for your entire AUID. when i submit mine, it says that i haven’t established any security questions
i am also unable to make an account. I’m hoping that this does not necessarily mean rejection but I can’t help but wonder. i live in Maine so the letter should take a while to arrive. yikes.
Does anyone know how AU activate their portals? Is it by last name?
Nothing in informed delivery today in MA
@greta2000 large envelopes dont show up in informed delivery!
Did anyone apply for honors or a special program and if so were they able to find that information in the portal? i can find congrats and the financial info but not an actual acceptance letter…of course could just wait for the mail
@faZed672 - my son is in the same boat. We had heard the same thing about yield protection, but if my son and you don’t wind up with an acceptance, you’ll have done everything you could have. It’ll be their loss. I don’t think being able to or not being able to create the portal right now means you’re in or not. And to be frank, there have been complaints in past year’s threads about the way AU rolls things out, so wait for the mail to come
@notmaggie where did u find the congrats and fin aid info
