@noah2425 literally so annoying, i hope it shows up today or tomorrow ?
Thank you! I checked and it said ācongratulations on your admittance to American.ā Iām from Texas so it saved me like 5 days of waiting.
try the portal trick, I did it at 4:30 and it worked and I was able to see the ācongratulationsā

did everyone that got accepted get an email? I didnāt get one and hope that doesnāt mean anythingā¦
@mdf1204 You did what you could. It happens. We were disappointed today (twice) from schools that we would have been happy with but fairly well surpassed in terms of typical SAT and GPA, and with what we felt was a strong package otherwise. Good luck!
@savedorcollege - American is notorious for yield protection, even if demonstrated interest is shown. My son was rejected at Northeastern where he thought he had a pretty decent chance. This has been a crazy wild ride, but I have to believe that it all shakes out however itās supposed to in the end.
@mdf1204 It doesnāt matter where you start . . . what matters is how you finish! Good luck
Accepted! Iām on vacation right now, so the email they sent saying congrats on my admission and joining them near where I live saved me a ton of waiting. Very unexpected email, but very happy!
From Chicago suburbs and nothing yet.

In FL and nothing yet. I caved and had DS try to log in to his portal. No luck. Kind of assuming the worstā¦ 33 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA, strong leadership (Eagle Scout and Pres of Young Dems at a conservative hs, among others), 4 and 5s on 6 AP exams so far, saw one LOR and it was excellent. Visited, met with admissions rep at local college fair, emailed, etc ?āāļø
what time does informed delivery update?
I got the email saying I was accepted, but nothing about merit aid and that stuff. how do you find that out?
@washdcgorl Informed delivery usually sends you an email first thing in the morning-for us itās between 8 and 9 AM.
For others-the email announcing admittance is only for students who live in areas where there is an American event being hosted in the next few weeks. They seem to time these emails very well as some going out yesterday, others today depending on region.
My daughter has been unable for two days to login to the myAU portal, FYI.
Informed delivery suggested her package was arriving today (āa piece of mail that they do not have an image forā), but the carrier didnāt get it to us (which only happened one other time- stressful LOL).
Son was wait-listed to both GW and AU on the same day. 1470 SAT and 3.88 UW GPA with as many honors an AP courses as possible. Average amount of extra-curriculars and good work experience. Very surprised to be honest. Does applying for financial aid negatively affect the application?
Iām from Philly and 2 people from my school have already gotten their decisions. I havenāt received any decision over mail or through the myAU portal. Is there any way I can see my decision or should I just wait it out?
@ccsnj77 - it isnāt necessarily that asking for financial negatively impacts a decision, I think with American itās more likely that they practice yield protection. If a student doesnāt show strong demonstrated interest, such as signing up for a tour (and actually attending as they track all that stuff), interviewing, doing the optional essays, etc., AU may think that they are simply being used as a safety school, and they donāt want to offer someone a spot who may not take it as they will likely get in somewhere else where they really want to go. That situation negatively impacts the schoolās yield.
My son applied to their honors program and another scholarship program, and between the regular application and those two programs, there were something like 6 maybe 7 additional essays. I have to believe itās really all a way of gauging how interested a student is.
If you look back through prior years on CC, there are lots of posts that show very qualified applicants with strong stats being outright rejected or waitlisted as AU is sensitive to being used as a safety school. I suspect itās probably a similar situation with GWU. Neither school wants to be a back up for students with strong stats for that āotherā school in DC ā¦
Itās very frustrating though for students with a great scores if either school was one of their top choices and they want to be in DC.
Same thing here!!! And, through the USPS Informed Tracking I saw that my envelope appears to be a small one.
