Just saw my small envelope in informed delivery. :((( AU was my top choice. 1390 sat, class pres, state debate competitor, Girl Scout, 4.0 gpa, hoby alum, nhs vp. did an interview, drove from tx for campus tour, watched 3 webinars, wrote supplemental essay.
@washdcgorl at least you got in GW. So AU was first choice and GW was second?
yes, it originally went Georgetown, AU, GWā¦ but then i got deferred from gtown and realized it was a crazy reach anywaysā¦ Iām still super greatful to have gotten into GW but the vibes of AU fit with me better
@washdcgorl, do you have any other schools you are considering?
yes, i got into university of Texas at Austin and Trinity Univeristy. I am still waiting on Boston University, rice, Washington and lee, and a final decision from Georgetown. How about you @sdl0625
I see that people are seeing a small envelope on informed delivery, and most people with packets saw āwe have something that we dont have a photo forā. I got that on my informed delivery but cant make an account on the portal
We have the same experience, on the portal it says Spring 2020, day before yesterday it said there was no space in the Fall Mentorship program and then yesterday it changed and gave us the option of taking the Fall Mentorship. However, I sent an email to the admissions office to ask if this was correct information and I just received this response āWe have mailed out all of our decisions this week. Please be advised information regarding (sonās) acceptance will be fully detailed in their admissions decision letter. Please be advised we do not post decisions on the Admissions portalā. So we will see however I agree with the post today that talks about interest. It was never my sonās top interest and that probably reflected in his non visitation, etc.
ps what I did read about the Mentorship seems to suggest they are not part of the Freshman group, activities, etc. so it that experience is important, this is probably not a good choice.

So thereās snail mail, email, portal trick and informed delivery (what is that?) This school seems way into gaslighting - not a good sign.
@Collegefortwins Weāre in SW FL and my daughter received an acceptance email last night at 7pm. Nothing in the snail mail yet. Consistent with information from someoneās previous post, Iād assume she got the email because thereās an accepted student event in Miami on April 13 with a link to register. For added information, sheās an AP Scholar, 1430 SAT/33ACT, good ECs and volunteer hours, and IMHO very strong essays. We attended a Preview Day in Feb18. Accepted to Tulane, Miami, UF and waiting on Northwestern, hopefully today. Good luck to you!
big envelope came today in CT! Good luck everyone!
@FLcubsfan Someone at my school had a similar experience yesterday. Weāre in MA and I and two other students that I know applied to AU RD havenāt received our letters yet, but one of them got an email inviting him to the accepted student event. Congrats on your daughterās acceptance!
My d called admissions and they told her that she was in the kazt batch of mail that was sent out on Wednesday. No other info as to what the contents of the mail was. Said it would arrive even into next week.
Pretty sure I got rejected as I see a small letter in the mail in CA. 1400 SAT 4.1 W 3.8 UW. Really really surprised as AU was my safety but I guess like people have been saying here, they donāt like to be peopleās saftey ooof.
@penny1234 Is her last name at the end of the alphabet? Wonder how they do that. Still waiting here in NYC. Daughterās last name starts with L.
@xinabess - yes it is
@sagh527 I am a domestic student!
I still havenāt received my package in the mail but know that I am accepted.
@xinabess I honestly donāt think American is gaslighting.
Schools have information on their websites, and the portal trick is clearly an unintended back door they havenāt figured out how to close. They prefer the old fashion way of notifying people by mail, but realize time is of the essence to register and plan for April events-thus the email going out in coordination with the mailings to admitted students in certain regions.
Also, informed delivery is a service provided by the United States Postal Service/USPS. You can sign up to receive daily emails with scanned pictures of arriving mail. Usually this includes only small envelopes (rejections and waitlists envelopes in the case of American) and simple references to larger items arriving that day (like a 9 x 12 acceptance package). Some schools like USC consciously do not allow for USPS to track these items so the recipient can be surprisedā¦ but American does not play this game
I got waitlisted Iām in Maine and they sent the letter on Tuesday. 1310 SAT, 94 weighted GPA, went abroad junior year, all honors or AP classes, good essay and recommendations, visited once, international relations major
Son just called from school, he got an email saying āCongratulations on your admission!ā No letter yet and no invite to any local events. So now we wait until tonight, see if the letter arrives and then find out if there is any info about honors and scholarships - because without those, AU is a no go.
