Whatā€™s ā€œyield protectionā€?

I received a ā€˜Join Us on Campus for New Eagle Dayā€™ email about 20 minutes agoā€¦ the catch is that I was still waiting on a formal decisions email (Iā€™m international) and so I found out my acceptance decision that way haha. Very unique decision release format; definitely not complaining though!

Does the email inviting students to New Eagle Day mean acceptance? Havenā€™t received a letter yetā€¦

@lp2623 Yes, in the email it says ā€œcongratulations on your admission to American University! Do you want to take one last look at AU before enrolling? New Eagle Day, our largest on-campus event for admitted students, is your best opportunity!ā€

I then made a portal account (I didnā€™t before because I wanted to find out normally) and my letter of acceptance/financial aid was all there. However, I am international so it might be different for domestic students.

Hello! Are this decisions only for frehsman or transfer too?

Just got the join us on campus email, so Iā€™m assuming I got in.
3.63 GPA 3.9 weighted
1330 SAT
Lots of extracurriculars including vice president of nationally accredited art club
poli sci major
not much demonstrated interest

@cavancork

ā€œYield in college admissions is the percent of students who choose to enroll in a particular college or university after having been offered admission. ā€¦ As a statistical measure, it has been used by college ratings services as a measure of selectivity, such that a higher yield rate is a sign of a more selective college.ā€ (Wikipedia)

Just got in!

Just got my acceptance package in NC! Deanā€™s scholarship and accepted to Community Based Research Scholars. Did not send test scores to AU.

Waitlisted ): does anyone have any advice about how to get off the waitlist/if itā€™s even possible?

My stats:

3.9/4 UW GPA
4.9/5 W GPA
27 ACT
2 campus visits
A lot of demonstrated interest
Super strong ECā€™s
3 good rec letters
All supplemental items submitted
100+ volunteer hours
Personal essay was about a bad car accident I was in and how I overcame lasting effects

I got the New Eagle email too, but I didnā€™t get a letter and my application portal didnā€™t change. I did sign up for the event though so Iā€™m a little confusedā€¦ where do I look to find the application status?

After receiving the admission email yesterday (hooray) related to an upcoming AU event in Northern California, my daughter still has not received her acceptance package in the mail (delayed).

BUT she was finally able to access the portal- we found the admissions information to confirm.

We also figured out where to find the merit information- under finances select financial aid: award letter. Select the next financial aid year and submit

I remember reading a short article on Collegeboard with tips on increasing chance of admission from waitlist. Hereā€™s the link:

https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/get-in/making-a-decision/what-to-do-if-youre-wait-listed

Good luck

DS officially got the waitlist letter today. He will move on. Little surprised he got into Oxy and UMiami, but not American. Stats were in post #552.

I just recieved that email as well, and created my account, but i canā€™t find my admissions letter on the portal, and it says i have no financial aid awards for 2018-2019 or 2019-2020ā€¦could i have made an account without being accepted? I actually forgot my username and had to call the school for it, so they know I made an account.

Are there people here who have not heard a thing via email or snail mail? We were sure weā€™d know by today!
