The correct spelling is 'Spelman' not 'Spellman'.

Thank you...any activity here is good...!

and it's the only hbcu in the top 100 Liberal Arts Colleges!

has anyone here applied to spelman? ...... I have never been on the campus and was wondering what others thought of it.

My daughter applied, we visited, (it was nice enough, but paled in comparison to Emory which we visited the next day) and she got in "early".

I know when I visited Emory it was beautiful!... I dont know why I didnt visit Spelman as well.... When you say paled in comparison do you mean the facilities are outdated compared to Emory's or the atmosphere. I'm really interested in the dorms, do they have private baths at all?........Did your D decide if Spelman is her future school?.....Sorry so many questions, just curious. I applied RD and wont find out until April. Thanks

I wouldn't say outdated but smaller, less expansive, less dramatic; may be not as modern but not outdated. The tour did not include the inside of any buildings at Spelman. At Emory, many buildings were dramatic, i.e. the "gym". Must importantly perhaps, there was no information session which left us feeling something was missing. Doesn't look like she's choosing Spelman but she hasn't decided where yet.

I loved the student center building, with the building inside a building concept. Did your D apply to Emory as well? Im trying to find pros and cons to all of the colleges I applied to, hopefully it will help making a decision easier; if you dont mind me asking why do you think your D decided against attending spelman?.... Thanks
