America's Got Talent

I don’t usually watch unless there’s nothing else on but happened to switch on in time to see the, er human water fountains (don’t know how else to describe it). Have to say I’m in Simon’s camp on this one. Ugh - it made me cringe. Anyone watching?

It was… odd. They wont last.
The female comedian yesterday was heartwarming. And funny

Watching! Loved the dance troupe at the end who got the golden buzzer!

This seems to be a replay of yesterday’s show.

I think it may be - I didn’t see it yesterday. But if the dance group is the one in the kind of Camo outfits - wow, they were wonderful

I do find myself thinking wah wah wah with some of the sob stories though. Maybe I have no heart

For some reason, this is the only one of the talent shows we seem to enjoy.

The guys squirting water from mouth to mouth…gag. I could not even watch.

Me neither - I kept looking away - I think my face pretty much mirrored Simon’s. It was gross.

I fast forward through the sob stories. I loved the cat act. A lot of the acts, though, I think okay that was fun one time but how can they do it again? Most years I stop watching long before the show crowns a winner. I like the auditions though. And I thought the water thing was funny once. The comedian was hilarious. And the card kid was really good.

I don’t watch the show, but someone shared the video of the dance troupe on line so I saw that–amazing!!!

It was.

Yeah, I skipped over that one after the first few seconds.

I did too, although the slo-mo effects got annoying after the first time. I would have preferred to see it in real time and rewound on my own.

Not something I watch by I happen to catch the young girl rapper (put down the guns) who was great and the amazing dance troupe at the end. Although I have to say I was really worried for those young girls being spun around and thrown. Kind of a combo of gymnastics, cheerleading and aerialists. It was spectacular but scary!

What is the golden buzzer?

That “card kid” guy is already a very famous magician. Wonder why he needs AGT.

Each judge plus Tyra gets one which allows an act to advance automatically to the live shows. Tyra used hers this week. Through the use of editing, there will likely never be more than one golden buzzer per episode, although for all we know, they may have all occurred the same day.

I can think of 20 million reasons. Season 2 winner Terry Fator has a 5 year $100M residency, Even non-winners, like Jackie Evancho, have had some nice post-AGT success.

^^To expand, if a judge hits the golden buzzer that act skips the next round of competition and automatically gets into the live show.

My H and I laughed out loud at the human fountains. It’s not really a talent, but it made us laugh … a lot. It was a bunch of guys who did it once & made people laugh, so they thought why not try it again. I think they were shocked that they went through (me, too - funny, but not worth putting through) … not sure they really wanted to take vacation time to stretch out the inevitable no that will soon happen!

I’m not sure what this says about my inner psyche, but I really liked the creepy girl with the doll who did the card trick.

Some good contestants and some slightly horrifying ones. The obnoxious comedien and the older dancing couple fall under the latter (I’m with Mel B on that one - can’t believe they voted them through). The large singer, the 2 guy acrobats and the dancers that got golden buzzered under the former.

Again with the sob stories. :(( Then I watched world of dance and more :(( it would be refreshing to have someone come out and say I had a great childhood and didn’t live somewhere where I would die if I ventured onto the street

I watched last week and absolutely agree on the ick of the human fountains. I’m fascinated by the card/magic tricks, though. They are so extreme and I can’t begin to figure out how they work. My favorite last year was the deaf singer.
