I was just wondering if there were any winners or candidates who were getting ready to compete or are going to nationals in June. My competition is this weekend.

Still working my talent.

Good luck, bexline.

Thanks Grace. I appreciate you noticing.

Same here...good luck! What is your talent?

Good luck this weekend! Having been involved for over 20 years with both Jr. Miss and Miss America prelims, I am a big fan of the scholarship opportunities that they offer young women. Unfortunately, my D (who has grown up around pageants), has absolutely no interest in competing - LOL - so she has to find other sources of scholarships.

Thanks everyone. I have been an avid dancer for almost 12 years.

Allies mom, have you been a judge??

Hi Bexline: Yes, I have judged at both the Jr. Miss and Miss America prelim levels and at a State Miss America pageant. It has been a number of years since I judged Jr. Miss, though. Feel free to send any questions you may have my way , although it may take a couple of days to get back to you as we have my D's drama festival tomorrow that we are hosting.

How neat! Ohio's Jr. Miss competed on Feb. 24 & 25th...it was the most memorable time of my life. I placed third overall and won a $700 scholarship.

I hope you did well this weekend......didn't read your thread until today so I couldn't send you off with well wishes.

Let me know how you did!!

Nicole

I managed to get 2nd runner up...disappointedted that I didn't win scholastics.

Could you tell me what they judge in the scholastic area??

Also, me being only 15 was not a good thing. One judges commented to me,"You were great for a 15 year old", which means to me,"You were great, but you are only 15". I hate being penalized for being smart.

Not sour grapes, it's just happen to me several times.

I'm not sure what they judge on for scholastics. I had the highest GPA in the contest (4.60 weighted). There were only four with 4.0's unweighted and I was one as well as being Valedictorian. I am assuming you received points for each AP class in which my school only offers one with no Honors. There needs to be some way to judge the rural areas equallly to the metros. I decided not to take PSEO classes because of my desire to have a normal senior year in which I could be a student for the last time. Our school district has stopped offering honors/ap's because of PSEO. You will receive a feedback form.....I plan to comment on this area.

How many girls did you have compete and what state are you with? We had 24 in Ohio and spent an entire week out of school in preparation for the event. You should be proud to be a senior at 15...I didn't want to graduate early. My feelings are....I have my entire lifetime to be a college student and start my professional life. I didn't want to miss out on high school. I will graduate with 32 credits.
