Amherst Class of 2025

I know this isn’t the Wes forum, but my best friend goes to Wes (and actually got waitlisted from Amherst last year) and could not be any happier there. I’ve visited campus many times and it’s so beautiful. Congrats to you!!!

Students accepted to Amherst, including those who might receive Ivy offers, may appreciate this Forbes article from a few years ago:

Hi everyone and congratulations to all who got admitted to the class of 2025. I’m Zakaria from Afghanistan and I’m extremely happy to be joining an amazing lively community. I couldn’t believe When I saw the acceptance letter because from the 13 schools I applied, I heard 8 rejections before Amherst admitted me.

I think Amherst really values you individually and they stated that my LoRs, High school achievements, and essays distinguished me. Also, I didn’t have any AP or subject test scores, and my SAT was 1360 (25 %ile).

I’m planning to be on pre-med track and explore different classes, taking advantage from the open curriculum.

I would love to meet and know you all. My insta is @Zakaria.ss3

That is so wonderful to hear. Huge congratulations!! Getting into Amherst is no easy feat, especially this year (8% accept rate)! Something that I love about Amherst is that they are one of FIVE schools in the U.S. (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, and Amherst) that are need-blind both for domestic and international applicants, which gives everyone the chance they deserve!

I feel the same things distinguished me. My scores were alright (my SAT was on the lower side for Amherst), but I definitely think my EC’s, essays, and LoRs really helped!

I hope to meet you there! Not committed yet but definitely leaning towards Amherst atm! Tusks up!

P.S. I’ll follow you! Not about to dox myself but the username starts with “omg”

Thank you Meddy. Indeed, I’m also quite intentional to get the most out of college resources and opportunities, and meet amazing special people.

What does the mailing folder contain, except the “welcome to Amherst” and “FAQs” ?

A HUGE flag, some fun stickers, and a pretty picture thing!!

Cool. Although I would have to wait like 2 weeks for it, but it’s worth it.

Yeah the purple and lime are kinda an ugly color combination but it’s still nice haha

Wait, what did I miss? Did you commit to Amherst?! :purple_heart:

I’m around 85% sure I’m committing, so I’d figure I’d risk it and buy the sweatshirt!
