I am a traditional Student from Nassau College in New York. I’m very nervous as well. Amherst accepts roughly 4.2% of transfer applicants. Amherst is my first choice, and the wait is killing me. May 15th will be the death of me. Like dcmiss, I am also hoping a lot of credits do not transfer, so I can spend as much time at Amherst as possible =D!

Based on Amherst’s site, 1 out of every 10 community college student is accepted which is good. Am I the only one who can’t seem to stop thinking about May 15th?!

School: Nassau College
GPA: 3.9
SATS: N/A
E.C: Volunteer at a hospital weekly, Treasurer of a Volunteer club, President of the transfer club, etc.

Dude I can’t wait either, I’m so nervous. Yeah I think most of the transfers accepted are from CC’s (grr)

I’ve been combing through last year’s thread, nervous as I read people’s acceptances/rejections. AGjhfbcas.

WE STILL HAVE LIKE 4 WEEKS.

@ WorriedAlways

I have been doing that as well. I actually just came back from visiting the campus. Dude, I regret going. I’m more hooked on it now than I was before. I feel like the school was MADE for me.

It’s cool not to be going through this alone though. I wish us all the best, and hope the almighty guides the admissions committee to accept ALL of us!

4 weeks? I don’t think I’ll survive…dies.

I currently go to Boston University, not a CC. Sophomore, applied for junior year transfer 2012. Accepted to Hampshire college, still waiting in agony for Amherst. :/

@ronlo ah same here! Haha the earliest decision notice I found was on May 13th, but then again not a lot of people are involved on that thread as the ones for UT and NYU.

@litton915

Whoa Boston?! Do you mind sharing your stats?

Ugh I dont know what Ill do without school to distract me from the wait…

@litton915

BU? That’s a great school. Don’t worry, you’re among friends who are worrying as well :). This may 15th date is really paining my soul. Why couldn’t it be May 1st :’(?

@WorriedAlways

I agree! I’m so glad I have school today. I NEED to be distracted. I am so hyped for this school that I have the A.C course catalogue right next to the bible. I need all the help I can get, haha!

Where else did both of you apply?

Applying from Georgetown (rising sophomore)…the wait is uncharacteristically painful and sobering. best of luck to errrrrbody!

Georgetown? Wow…that’s awesome. What are your stats? My sister actually goes there.

I don’t usually like to post stats haha, unless i’m accepted! weird, I know, but I’ve always been a tad superstitious. I don’t want to jinx anything!

Georgetown is a wonderful place for some people and a less-than-stellar place for others. I think I overestimated my desire for a larger school in a big city. In reality, I think I’d be much happier in a smaller community in a more remote place. Hindsight is always 20/20 though, and I don’t regret going to Georgetown. When I chose Georgetown, it was exactly what I wanted.

Also, Georgetown lacks greatly in diversity of all kinds, which can be frustrating at times. Our endowment is pretty pitiful compared to peer schools, meaning we don’t offer nearly the financial aid we should, translating to limited socio-economic diversity and a whole lot of school loans. The emphasis on a diverse and varied student body is what I really like about the LAC’s!

Anyhoo, probably gave you a more winded answer than you were looking for, but I figured I had to compensate for failing to disclose my stats (don’t want to be “just another number” ;)

That’s no problem. I completely understand. That’s the exact reason why I didn’t apply to Georgetown. I feel that you should only deal with loans in graduate school.

I actually visited Amherst College. Everything you just described about LACS was spot on. Everyone knows each other, the campus is beautiful, the campus is small, etc. It’s just such an amazing college. Actually, I didn’t see much diversity. I saw mostly Asians, Caucasians, and 1 or 2 African Americans. I’m just hoping the other races are studying/hiding indoors, haha.

My biggest thing about Amherst is the small classes. It actually intrigues me. Coming from a school with 20/30 kids, I feel that I am a bit spoiled. I like the fact that the teachers actually know me by my name, and not by some number in row 50 holding a buzzer.

I hope we are in the 22 (average) that are accepted !

Oh goodness, yeah Georgetown seems amazing. Do you think Amherst will accept from Georgetown?

I also applied to the University of Texas of Austin (already accepted) and NYU. Ugh. I’m scurred.

My life would be made if I got into Amherst. It really would…

I don’t think Amherst discriminates where you come from. I’m coming from a CC, so I just hope that boosts my chances. An applicant from GT has a good shot.

Nice man! Congrats on your acceptance!

My life would be COMPLETE if I got into Amherst. The school was made for me. I could not find one flaw!

P.S. I’m African American as well… I hope that boosts my chances too :P. Minorities for the win? Haha!

Eh thanks! Yeah I know they pay attention to CC-ers, the ones that posted on last year’s threads seem to be. Let’s all agree to post here once we get our decisions…whether favorable or not…dun dun dun

HAHAHA!!! dramatic music Yes, I will post my decision here. Well, at least if we get accepted we’d have an idea who our potential roommates might be :P.

Deal! Let’s stop visiting this thread everyday…it’s only reminding us of the wait

Yea, this definitely is not healthy
Got my Columbia notification today, at least I know I’ll have somewhere to go in the fall… but Amherst is by far my top pick, argh, this wait is going to be the death of me.

Dude, you got into Columbia… You are good to go… Lol. Even if you don’t get into Amherst… That’s a pretty bad ass school.

Columbia seems really great, but like you have said previously, Amherst is just perfect :)

Columbia is too big, I don’t like the core, and most of all, I want to have accessible professors.

Columbia’s deadline is 14 May so I guess I have the same problem with the notifications not lining up right.

Amherst
Hampshire
Vassar
Wesleyan
Brown

What do you mean by stats?

Has anyone checked ACData recently? The text changed.
