General Comments:
AMHERST CLASS OF 2017!!! :D

@nineteen121. “The memo about how to set up your photo ID is being revised, and so was taken down from the web. The new version should be available soon (I would expect it late in the week).”

how hard is it to get off the waitlist?

just wanted to say this to all international students out there! (before I stop posting on this site). Amherst is the real deal when it comes to financial aid! (their aid packages are as good as those offered by schools like Harvard, Princeton, etc). I am an international student who needed aid. The most aid I got besides Amherst was from Colgate (23k per year). Amherst, however, gave me $45,000 in aid per year!!! I was schocked, really. so I greatly encourage any international student asking for aid to apply to Amherst (it is one of the only 6 need blind schools for internationals). Good luck!

I’m sitting in Chapin Hall at Amherst right now, this school is wonderful.

Has anyone here heard back from Amherst about the waitlist results yet? Arghh, I am a waitlisted international applicant from Vietnam and really anxious right now… It has been so stressful these days.

I haven’t heard back about the waitlist either. Does anyone know what the yield was for this year?

As far as I am concerned, the number of applicants slightly dropped this year while the admittance rate also declined. Hence, chances are that they might admit a decent number from the waitlisted students for the incoming Class of 2017. But I am not sure… just keeping my fingers crossed atm. :’( I really want to go sigh

Has anyone received the housing questionnaire yet?

I haven’t. There’s a link to it somewhere on the website but when I log-on I’m just brought back to the old application status page.

Yeah, me too. I just went through my information packets and read that it should be coming mid-may. So perhaps next week.

Are any of you on the FB page? I don’t have a Facebook and I’m wondering if I should make one so that I don’t miss out anything. If you are connected to the page, what have the conversations been about so far? Is the page active? Worth making an account for?

^^ same here! I honestly despise Facebook, I deleted my account after one month, but I’m wondering if it would be worth it to make an account again for this exact reason.

There’s two Facebook groups but nothing important happens on there. They’re there for people to connect with each other and talk about random stuff, like movies, books, next year’s classes etc.

^^ so you’d say making an account specifically for the Amherst page/s isn’t worth it?

Ya. All the important stuff is going to be communicated by e-mail.

I don’t know. I’m still considering making one. I’d like to get a feel for the social dynamics of our class.
