April 1, with some decisions sent out one or two weeks before then (early-writes).

I got the email encouraging me to confirm information on my ACData account and to check my application status, so I anxiously logged on, but on my application update it stated that the date to view my letter had not yet arrived and to check later. I’m very confused, anyone else get this?

yeah I got that a while ago… I just figured it was another one of those incessant email reminders. Nothing too special

Hey everyone , I applied RD and I need to know how important the SATs are for Amherst because I really messed up mine (1800) otherwise everything else including my school grades , ECs , essays and teacher recommendations are great.
Thanks!

^ If I’m not mistaken, you didn’t need to submit SAT scores. Did you take the ACT? If so, I would call Admissions and ask if they will still accept them. If you’ve already submitted in-range ACT scores, you have nothing to worry about.

^actually you DO need to send your SAT and SAT II or ACT scores. It’s mandatory.

Maybe the policy has been changed since this page went up, but it says here (Frequently Asked Questions - Current Applicants | Current Applicants | Amherst College) that “First-year applicants are required to submit either the SAT I and two SAT II/Subject Tests or the ACT.”

The policy hasn’t changed. Applicants must submit either SAT & 2 Subjest Tests or the ACT.

agreed … that was the direction also given to us.

I just got an early write to Amherst!! I got the email today which offered me a place in the Class of 2017! I’m so excited!!! Did anyone else get one too?

Not me, but congrats!

DC got such a “early write” (a new term I just learned) as well. It’s a pleasant surprise. But obviously we can’t make a matriculation decision right away and the school doesn’t expect us to anyway. My question is - will/did you respond to the email? What did/would you say?

Admitted to Amherst this morning by an early write! So excited!

Admitted with early write as well! Incredibly excited.

Why can’t everyone just get the same decisions at the same time? I guess its just the anxiety/jealously speaking.

Thanks you guys! It was unexpected and I’m beyond excited! I love Amherst!

and @Aldean0611- I didn’t respond to the e-mail, and I’m not sure if they expect us to, I’m not sure what everyone else did though! And congrats to your kid!

I got an early write as well:)

Congratulations possible classmates!
Just out of curiosity, what exactly does the letter say?

Is the early write a mailed letter?

Mine was an email
