I got an “early write” today too! I didn’t even know they existed. I re-read it a billion times and checked my name and the sender to make sure it was legit. haha and good luck to anyone else who applied RD, I know it’s a horrible wait.

I’m hoping for an early write (: Does anybody know if they’ve all been sent out or if they send them out in batches?

Early write! Just randomly saw mine as I was checking my email. Apparently it was sent yesterday but my internet was down.
I still can’t believe it. And I’m an international student too. Whoa.
Congratulations to everyone else who got one, and good luck to all the other RD applicants!

I read somewhere on CC that Amherst makes a lot of early notifications one way or another prior to April 1 (juding from the number of people who reported in this thread, it does seem true), so I think if you haven’t received an “early write” yet, there’s still hope. Then of course the closer it is to April 1, the less of a stress reliever the early write is.

@Alden0611: Amherst sends Early Writes to about 20% of accepted students, which is on par with other schools with similar policies/conduct (EW/Likely Letters…etc.) But you are right, they usually send those in waves up to mid March.

i got an early write too and i’m super excited (i made an account just to comment here!). strangely enough, neither link on my email opens anything. does anyone else have the same problem?

^ I noticed that too; it must be a problem with the way they attached them. They’re going to be sending things in the mail so I’m sure it’ll be there. Does anyone know how long it’ll be before they send the financial aid letters?

I’m guessing that they’re going to send the financial aid info at the end of March

What do you mean by “Early Write”

“Early Write” refers to the practice wherein a regular decision applicant is notified before the decision release date that s/he has been admitted. It is meant to influence an applicant to commit to a school by showing special interest.

Thank you, my friend

I received an Early Write. Wasn’t expecting it as I felt I was a really weak applicant. 29 Composite ACT (31 Super Scored) Barely in the top 10 percent of my class.

Are you an athlete or a ■■■■■?

@magentaturtle
I am neither. I applied through QuestBridge so maybe it was something in my Essays.

just out of curiosity, what does everyone’s admissions status update say online?

@tomatocheeks

" Admission Status Update

The designated date to view your letter has not yet arrived. Please check back later."

Although I received the Early Write it was not reflected in the admission portal.

can those of you who got early writes post your stats? thanks (: and congrats!!

Magentaturtle, not a cool thing to say. BTW, while it varies from sport to sport, most Amherst athletes don’t need the athletic hook to get in.
