has anyone been taken off the waitlist yet?
I dunno. Like hj0091, does anybody know when they start taking from the waitlist.
@sanjosedad Congrats on options. Another SJ Dad here wondering if you’ve decided, and what your stats were, and/or HS. Rising Sr here with same 3 on radar.
Did anyone on the waitlist hear from A that they got in or that it closed? I am hearing RD yield was higher than expected.
From the summer newsletter from the Office of Admission:
The Amherst College Office of Admission is excited to welcome the
Class of 2022 to campus this fall. Our 497 matriculating students
come from the largest applicant pool in Amherst’s history, with 9722
first-year applicants.
Our first-year students hail from 422 high schools, 43 states, and 28
countries. The most represented states are California, Massachusetts,
New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Outside the US, South Korea,
China, India, Canada, and Pakistan lead the way. Seven percent of the
class are non-US citizens; more than 12 percent are dual citizens. Approximately
15 percent will be in the first generation in their family to
attend a four-year college or university. A record 29 percent are eligible
for Pell Grants. Forty-seven percent of our incoming class identify
as domestic students of color.
Of those ranked, 89 percent graduated in the top 10 percent of their
class; 21 percent of those were valedictorians. Nearly 11 percent have
a parent who graduated from Amherst. Many have been identified by
our faculty as having special talents in music, fine arts, acting, and
dance. In addition, the class brings a wide array of experiences and
interests — volunteers, journalists, athletes, activists, school leaders,
aspiring politicians, doctors, researchers, professors, lawyers, entrepreneurs,
and business leaders. A common characteristic of our new
students is they care. They are kind, service-minded and willing to extend
themselves to help others. In short, they are inspiring.
RD yield was higher than expected with a matriculating class size of 497 per the Office of Admission.
Housing assignments were supposed to be available today, but an email went out asking for another day to release information or further details. I wonder if the over enrollment cause a bit more work for them. Oh, the anticipation for D18! :!!
Such exciting times @Meddy ! Hope your child gets the dorm s/he is hoping for, and a great roomie too
Housing assignments are in! Best wishes to all the Mammoths! <:-P
