I'll be applying as a transfer to Amherst College from my current CC. I currently have a 3.8 GPA and by the end of spring 2014 I will have 40+ credits (but not all will be transferrable..) I won't be submitting ACT or SAT scores. After high school, I did a one year leadership program and went overseas to Japan to help with tsunami relief. I am also minority (half Japanese). My high school grades and GPA are horrible so that's why I started at community college. I've been taking many music courses, but am not going in that direction anymore. I've also taken Ethics, sociology, statistics, College Comp, and next semester I'll be taking environmental geography and a history course (but these will be online..and from what i've heard online courses are not transferrable to Amherst).

Anyway, I don't have many extracurriculars at my current college. I am part of a music theory study group. I also organized and sent a petition around to start an open mic on campus. Other than that, not much. I know I don't have anything amazing that really stands out, but I have heard that Amherst is pretty favorable to CC transfers. Anyway, what do you think?

And of course, this is not the only school I'm applying to. I will also be applying to a couple in-state schools and a couple out of state.
