Amherst College

I’ve been struggling to keep my head above water lately with balancing school work, practicing violin, and applying to colleges. I’m interested in applying to Amherst College but haven’t taken any SAT subject tests yet and I’m not sure if it’s worth the time and effort to study for them if Amherst is the only college on my list that requires the subject tests, and its one of my highest reaches. Here are my stats
SAT 1940
93 GPA
APs AP Music Theory, AP Language and Composition, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, and AP Environmental Science
Extra Curriculars
I’ve played violin for 12 years and have taken banjo lessons for 3 years and tap dance for 2 years, I was on my school’s bowling team my Junior year, I’ve done volunteer work with the NYC Parks department planting trees and Horseshoe Crab Monitoring and completed 40 hours of community service on an organized trip in Israel

SAT is lacking unfortunately. The mean SAT at Amherst is around 2160.

Yeah, I’m definitely aware that it’s a reach, but I was wondering if there’s any shot if I do well on the SAT subject tests.

Your SAT is very low for Amherst, and your gpa while strong is also low for a school like Amherst. You would be using your time better by making sure your essays and common app are fabulous for other schools vs. studying for subject tests
