Amherst College?

I am absolutely in LOVE with Amherst College. Many haven't even heard of it because it doesn't have a brand name, but as you probably know, it's extremely competetive to get in. Hate to do this, but I'm going to ask you a question....what are my chances??

I'm hoping that my "pull" will be my position at Lt. Governor of Key Club. I am in charge of multiple schools, and it consumes MUCH of my time. I have to work with many organizations and schools and I run district fundraising projects. Rugby may also help since not many people play it even if I'm not recruited?

Oh, and I'm absolutely head over heals for Amherst. (but I'm not college-obsessed like you may think)

Thanks in advance!

You've got a good shot at Amherst.

yeah, I'm not sure what Amherst's standards are...but your app is very strong.

Well there are 6,000 applicants and about 1,000 are accepted. Of those 1,000, 500 often choose Harvard and Yale over Amherst.

So it's high standards. But 6,000 doesn't sound nearly as bad as the 30,000 applying to Upenn and such.

good shot, but i knew a kid with similar stats and alumnus father and they personally told him he had to have a 2300 to have guaranteed admission. i bet you have a good shot but then again the admissions process is the most unreliable, random thing in the world.

I hate the uncertainty

No one's heard of Amherst? Since when?

Guess it depends on which circles you hang out with...

I went to visit Amherst over Spring Break, and I didn't like it for some reason. I couldn't put my finger on it at all, but there is something I just hated it. I have NO IDEA what though.

Weird...

Yeah, a lot of people are unfamiliar with the liberal arts. That's why it's unheard of in certain areas. People in my school are like...you mean UMASS Amherst? They go more for the brand names (ie., UPenn, Duke, Harvard)
