I was wondering if anyone is planning on applying for Amherst’s Diversity Open Houses or if anyone has known of someone who attended them. Was the experience worthwhile? What what the resume like of those who were accepted? And also I’ve read a lot about how generous the financial aid Amherst is. Is that truly the case?

September or October?
I heard that it is competitive but its not as competitive as Amherst admissions. I have no idea whether this is right though.

I’m sure that there’s plenty of people who don’t check their email the moment they get home/daily or maybe more waves of decisions. The Amherst email said they’d notify the week of August 26, so perhaps they’re only emailing the people who applied earlier or something (as the deadline was less than a week ago).

I’m not sure what is going on with these emails. It seems very similar to what happened with TASP. First, people who were accepted received emails. Anyone who didn’t receive an email was sent a rejection letter by mail days later.
I turned in my application on the day it was due so maybe they are sending emails by those who sent their applications in first. Has anyone called the offices about this email situation?

So, could be that acceptances came (or are still coming) by email and rejections perhaps will come later by mail or email? Have not seen a post by anyone rejected…so those perhaps still have not been released?
I got into a diversity program at another college this summer via email and a friend got his rejection by mail later.
HSG

Update: I called the offices at Amherst and they said that they are still in committee. They are releasing acceptances as they are making their way through the applications.
