Amherst ED

Anyone receive the email yet giving you a PW and access to check receipt of your app?

Yes, my daughter received yesterday. She submitted her ED application on October 30th, so it took 2 weeks to receive the confirmation.

I submitted my ED application late into the 14th (early into the 15th?) and haven’t received ANY emails from Amherst. Should I be concerned?

I don’t think you should. I submitted my application on the same day Amherst’s supplement writing assignments became available, and received the account on November 14. So it’s conceivable they just need some extra time for applications sent after that. You can also email the admissions office for an update. Don’t fret yourself on that brother, just make sure you’ve done everything you can and leave the rest to the admissions officer :-)

So it turns out all of my mail from Amherst went into my spam folder haha. I made my account and everything is working fine. Does anyone know when decisions are coming out?

It was around 5 PM EST on December, 14 for last year’s applicants. Not sure about this year though…

@billiechan Hi I saw your other thread. Did you call them? I guess we are in a similar situation.

@squint182, Quite astonishing a fact that someone out there shares a similar situation with me - as we both thoroughly understand, it was not surgeless.

I did not call the admissions office or try to get involved in any way, as it occurred to me that whatever adversity or poverty I’d gone through in the past, is the relic of an unfortunate, yet unnecessary life that is imposed on me, rather than awarded to me. So although I have a fairly urgent impulse to make other people relate to my condition, or in a more practical sense, manipulate the deans into admitting me, I don’t think the trait, other than the courage to escape it, which is nonetheless escapist in its core, will be contributory to my future success. I want to go to Amherst not because I’m poor, but because I’m competent.

And well, that’s just my opinion - evidently there’s a plus factor when you can achieve at a high level in such a vile circumstance.

It’s 6:20 AM in China here and I’m still fully lucid. My reason is untainted yet my brain keeps fretting. December 15 is lurking, either repentance, or redemption.

Wish you all good luck then!

@billiechan Good luck to you too. How did you send your transcripts?

@billiechan I meant, my school don’t have counselors too. So did you sent your transcripts?

You can require documents bearing your grades directly from school or from local education department, you can also appoint one of your teachers as a counselor.

Thanks man. I don’t why they(amherst adcoms) still haven’t asked me about transcripts. I still haven’t sent my final transcripts, rec letters and mid year report. I read in their website they usually start reviewing the applications tomorrow. I’m not worried though, just asking. And I applied for Mathematics. What about you?

Same here. I don’t have those documents at all because last year I dropped out of school before the mid-year grades are available. I applied Economics and Biology. You sound more confident than I though.

Seems strange. Maybe it’s all about essays then.
