Rejected, haha. I got into Cal yesterday, so I’m just gonna shrug. Good luck to everyone, I hope you all end up somewhere you love.

Well, that’s it for my applicant journey. Still got The Brown Rejection to look forward to, though. Community college it is!
Has Amherst declared RDs?

The letter reads:
I am delighted to inform you that you have been admitted to the Class of 2020 at Amherst College! Your outstanding
accomplishments in high school, the enthusiastic support conveyed in your letters of recommendation and the qualities of
mind and spirit captured in your essays confirmed for us that you can make significant contributions to our very special
community. You have distinguished yourself among 8,400 extremely talented applicants from around the world and, on behalf
of the faculty, students and administration of Amherst College, I congratulate you.
You have an important decision to make in the next few weeks. The not-so-virtual “thick” envelope that will be mailed to you
on March 29 contains material that will be helpful as you consider making Amherst your home for the next four years. Our on
-campus Open Houses, held on April 11 and April 17-18 are wonderful opportunities to sample campus life, experience the
Amherst classroom and speak with our faculty and students. There are also several receptions for admitted students being
hosted by alumni in major cities around the country in April. You can also explore our website ( www.amherst.edu ), peruse
the online course catalog, and visit some student/faculty homepages to learn more about the Amherst community. Feel free to
direct specific questions to Amherst students and faculty who share your interests. You can expect candid answers from a very
lively and exciting group of people! If you are a financial aid applicant, you may check the status of your award at
www.amherst.edu/go/netpartner.
To confirm your acceptance of our offer of admission, please carefully read, fully complete, and submit our online Admission
Response Form by May 1. That form, along with information on all special events for admitted students, is available at
www.amherst.edu/admission/cas-class-of-2020. We expect, of course, that you will not make a deposit at any other college.
Please also remember that your admission to Amherst College is contingent upon maintaining your current level of academic
performance, successfully completing your academic program and continuing as a citizen in good standing in your school and
community. The College reserves the right to revoke our offer of admission if these conditions are not met to our satisfaction.
Should you decide not to attend Amherst, we ask that you complete the Admission Response Form accordingly, so that we
may plan appropriately.
Amherst College offers one of the finest educational environments in the country: small classes taught by professors;
exceptional resources in all departments, including excellent facilities for math and science; and an open curriculum that allows
unusual independence and flexibility in designing your academic program. Outside the classroom, you’ll be able to participate
in the many activities, clubs and teams available at Amherst and also take advantage of the courses and event offered within
the Five College Consortium. I hope you will decide to join the Amherst community next fall and that I will have the
opportunity to welcome you personally when the Class of 2020 gathers for the first time. Enjoy the remainder of your senior
year and, once again, congratulations from all of us at Amherst.
What does “You have distinguished yourself among 8,400 extremely talented applicants from around the world” mean? Did only 8400 students apply?
Accepted! Was waitlisted at Williams and rejected at Swarthmore, so I’m pretty excited
For those wondering, financial aid is available via a separate link! https://www.amherst.edu/admission/applicants/monitor_application click on “Access NetPartner”
Accepted (my son). I was worried after some waitlists last weekend!
That would be typical of the past few years. They accept around 1100-1200 total I think, as their yield is around 40% and each class is about 475. Accept rate is usually around 14%. Less in RD, though.
They took 180 out of 454 in ED, and presumably all 180 will come, so that leaves only around 300 spots for RD.
So maybe they took 750 in RD out of 7950 ish. That’s around 9% admit rate for RD.
Just guessing of course, based on previous years.
Accepted!
