Yes, I realize that they’re completely different. I just want to know which school is generally better for a physics major, I’ll be visiting them both within the next 2 weeks.

It's Carnegie, not Canegie.

And why anyone would want to live in Pittsburgh I will never know.

Oops, damn I feel stupid for accidently misspelling something, obviously I'm not the greatest of typers.

Amherst... No question

Let's forget the fact that this is the Amherst board...Amherst is just so much sweeter. Pittsburgh? Ew. Amherst? :) Course requirements? Bleh! Taking no science classes ever again? Yum.

Amen to that!

lol zspot. That doesn't really apply for me since I'm majoring in physics.

Haha my bad...but it still applies. I don't know much about Carnegie Mellon, but I bet they make you take some classes regardless of major...what are the odds you like all of those classes? At Amherst, that won't be a problem. You take your physics classes, then you're free to choose whatever else you want. Dabble in geology, pick up a second, third or fourth language, learn to play the guitar...whatever tickles your fancy.

Haha.. you're so funny

D was talking about one of her friends who is a physics major at Amherst, and it is really awsome - the kids really get involved, and they sleep in the lab a lot, because it is very intensive.

Whoa...they sleep in the lab?? Hope they have comfy cots!
