I realize they have a fairly low transfer acceptance rate %, but which is easier for transfers to get accepted to, amherst or swarthmore? and what is the likelihood of admission for someone applying from uc berkeley? thank you.

That would be way too close to call. It would depend entirely on specific factors such as how many of the freshmen at each school leave and open up slots in a particular year, what each school is looking for in transfer students that year, etc.

Swarthmore over-enrolled their target freshman class size by 6 students this fall -- no "summer melt". But, that doesn't necessarily mean they would have a larger or smaller number of transfer slots. Last year's senior class had an unusually high four-year grad rate, which could open up some slots. Those are examples of how it would be impossible to make "generic" predictions.

Second what interesteddad said, and add that Amherst also has the largest freshman class ever. Some freshman were placed in upper class housing because there wasn't enough room in freshman housing. At orientation they were told they could try to change rooms at semester, but they hoped they wouldn't because housing is so tight. So, it depends on how many kids transfer out, etc.
