Hi, I just want some clarification. On the common app, they describe Option B as:

“Please submit a graded paper from your junior or senior year that best represents your writing skills and analytical abilities. We are particularly interested in your ability to construct a tightly reasoned, persuasive argument that calls upon literary, sociological or historical evidence. You should NOT submit a laboratory report, journal entry, creative writing sample or in-class essay.”

So basically they want to see an essay I wrote for school before? When they say “graded”, do they mean with comments by the teacher?

Also when it says “graded paper”, can I just submit one assignment I had that consists of four long answers? I wrote 600 words each, and it all relates to the same book.

If you choose Option B, you have to either scan the graded version (I.e. with comments, grade, etc) and send the scanned version in or send in a hard copy via mail. I don’t know about your last question though…

Sorry–further question on this. My Son delivers his essays electronically so there are no comments on the paper. Is that problematic?

Just to check, would an essay written for a finals exam count? or are they looking specifically for take home essays?
