I plan on double majoring in Econ and Physics, and am wondering which of these two schools would be better for me. Amherst is kind of "in the lead" right now since I pretty much go there for free, no loans even (45k in scholarship), while I have to pay 10k in loans for Carnegie, and still have 10k in financial need. But besides that, which school is best for an aspiring physics/econ guy?

pick amherst!

Amherst is better for econ no doubt, and it's very strong in just about everything, being the best LAC in the country...and with the difference in aid, I don't think there's much question. Go to Amherst.

I agree. GO to Amherst, the best LAC in the country and you save $80,000.

i'd say amherst is a great pick...it is an excellent school and also is great across the board. i know seniors who have rejected very strong schools just to go to Amherst.
