Amherst vs Dartmouth vs Penn

Hello.

So I have been accepted to Amherst, Dartmouth, and UPenn.
I want to major in biology or in the natural sciences I'm interested in medicine or research for my career.

Of the three choices, I am torn between Amherst and Dartmouth.
I visited UPenn and felt like that was too big of a city and I didn't like the school, so it's really between Amherst and Dartomuth.

Amherst:
Pros-
Liberal Arts (small classes, close relationship with faculty)
Open Curriculum
5 Consortium
Cons:
Seems more focused on humanities/poli-sci
Not that many biology classes
Less materials available for research than D

In Dartmouth,
Pros:
medical school that could give me more opportunities for research and
that there are more high quality research
Hospital nearby, so shadowing doctors accessible
Wider arrange of biology classes
D-Plan
Cons:
Frats
More competitive?

Of the three (really two) choices, which one do you recommend?

As for my background, I am a white girl from a small, diverse private school. I love to read, go outdoors, and play tennis. I also like to eat in general (as my username suggests).

Thank you for your help.

Dartmouth seems to have what you want.

These are fair characterizations. What about the D-plan? Which town (or lack thereof) do you prefer? Any advantage of NH location to a MA one or vice versa in summer (at D) and in winter? Differences in feel/size of campuses, buildings, libraries and dining halls?

About 97% of pre-meds from Amherst college get into med school, many of them going to top med schools. And you read it right, 97%.
I don’t think going to Amherst will disadvantage you in any way for med school.
From what I know, many people take more significant roles in research compared to larger universities because there’s no grad student.

There’s a nice small town within walking distance, and you can get to larger towns via bus.
A random fact: Amherst also has the 2nd highest tennis court to student ratio in the nation lol

I don’t know too much about your other schools, but I just wanted to tell you that all your options are excellent for pre-med. I think you should go with fit, and your intuition.

Both are great for pre-meds. I think you should choose based on fit. Have you visited both schools yet? If so, which campus environment did you prefer?

I would have opted for PENN but since you have are deciding between Dartmouth and Amherst I would choose based completely on fit and environment. Amherst has a more liberal; less preppy student body and the 5 colleges consortium is great. Dartmouth is more preppy; greek life driven and is an Ivy. Visit both and decide based on your comfort level.
