Help! My D got into Amherst and Georgetown. She likes both school and couldn’t decide between Amherst’s open curriculum (options to explore other possibilities) and excellent teaching vs. Georgetown SFS’s IR focus curriculum plus DC’s internship opportunities. She is interested in Econ and International Relations. Are the two schools considered equal academically and offers about the same opportunities for grad school? Any advice?

Because Amherst is in the co-op, it offers a very wide range of options. Georgetown’s location probably can’t be beat for internships. Georgetown was pretty generous with AP credit, so if that is true for SFS, your D may have quite a lot of flexibility if she does have some AP credit.

Thanks for your information. It’s helpful!

Remember that there are internships in the summer as well.
