I know both schools are amazing and both will be great, which is making the decision super difficult.

Pros/cons of academics, social life, opportunities, programs, etc..?
Post grad and Job opportunities ?
Just any input really, would be highly appreciated.
I was accepted to Dartmouth and Upenn as well but have crossed them out of my list and do not want to discuss them .

A few aspects to be especially addressed:
as an international student, i was wondering how easy is it to assimilate the new society ?
Does an international student like me (Pakistani) ends up forming a clique with other international student only ?
Would NYUAD, a place where a concept of minority/majority does not exist prove to be more beneficial ?
NYUAD allows me to acquire substantial amounts of financial support to attend conferences/competitions/research. Would that be possible at Amherst ?

In US universities, I have found that often, international students tend to hang out largely with other internationals. This doesn’t always have to be true, but it frequently is. At NYUAD, a large proportion of the undergrad body is what would be considered international in the US, so I think it would be less of a factor.

In terms of money, I’m not sure that any school would match the kind of financial support that NYUAD can provide. NYUAD gets substantial money from the UAE government to enable all of those opportunities. Other schools have to rely on their endowments to fund those things. That being said, the UAE can be a restrictive environment, depending on who you are, but I’ve also heard that NYUAD students don’t really mix into Abu Dhabi all that much

That is true.
But I belive from my interaction and research, that the faculty and students are a tad bit more qualified at Amherst than NYUAD.
Furthermore, the prestige, grad placement, jobs are better at Amherst, are they not?

Will the US college experiance at one of the best elite LAC be constricting to the point that I consider nyuad?
I have received AID from both institutions. The amounts differ by 6k$ per annum which isn’t a problem for me.

I mean, it’s really up to what you want in a school. Amherst has more prestige simply by virtue of being older. NYUAD only just graduated its first class, so you can’t really compare job placement or grad school placement because the sample size is so small from NYUAD. But if you want the LAC experience, go there. NYUAD is a much more independent experience, though you do get the benefit of being part of a global network

Would I not get the LAC experiance in both of the places?
How would it be different?
As far as I see the global network allows me to study abroad easily but wont Amherst - being the great power house it is - allow me an equally easy access to a plethora of study abroad options?

I’m really not all that familiar with Amherst so I really can’t comment as far as that’s concerned, but NYUAD is certainly not anything like an LAC. It is a fully fledged university with graduate students, etc

@AreebArsha Correct me if I’m wrong but it sounds to me as if you’re more excited about Amherst than about NYUAD. That being said, NYUAD is clearly a very very unique college experience, and takes a unique type of person to appreciate. Amherst is also clearly very prestigious, and the 5C system allows you to have a lot more “reach” than a rather isolated campus like NYUAD, and if that’s what you’re prioritizing in your college search then by all means go to Amherst. I don’t doubt you’ll get an excellent education at both places, so if Amherst seems more attractive to you then go for it! Have you applied to these schools yet / have you been to the NYUAD candidate weekend? If not you might want to wait until that opportunity to comment on how you feel about the NYU campus, just because I think it’s something hard to imagine until you’re there.

@13lia
i have been to the candidate weekend, I think (and others currently enrolled in various years at NYUAD think ) that Candidate weekend cannot be used as a template to imagine all the next 4 years on. It is more of a marketing strategy.
i am equally excited about either.
The people in either group is equally talented and accomplished though i think the scales might weigh a bit more in Amherst’s direction.
teaching (and teachers) is definitely better at Amherst.
the thing about NYUAD which still hooks me is the population. The 250 people at NYUAD are way more active (on the facebook page as that is the only place i can compare) than the 500 people in the Amherst group. They seem more receptive and welcoming.
As an international student, becoming a part of Amherst White Dominated society poses a question mark for me
