But, to your larger point, yes. An awful lot of Wesleyan alum make their mark in one sphere or another. Take a bow, Catie Lazarus `99, “Employee of the Month”:

Middletown restaurant options are criminally underappreciated here. I don’t have a count and won’t argue the point as it compares to the town of Amherst, a place in which I’ve not spent a great deal of time (agree it’s a very nice, though small, town).
But I have spent a lot time in Northampton, a town I like quite a lot. While there are a few good restaurants, there aren’t as many as you’d think when you drive in. At least as compared to Northampton, Middletown wins hands down IMO. We always found dining in Northampton to be pretty limited. We love Sylvester’s in Northampton, and Middletown’s answer to that would be Sweet Harmony or the famous O’Rourke’s. Middletown, too, is near other small towns and West Hartford. Good dining choices are plentiful for families whose kids go to Wes.
Amherst has done amazingly well diversifying its student body. No doubt about it. Not something I think people automatically associate with Amherst until they dig in a little bit. They’ve done an impressive job.
