Among these 5 universities, I need to choose 3 to apply. Could someone help me?

Yes, Michigan is just more honest than most universities in cold northern climates. It calls the term that starts in January the “winter” term; most others call it the “spring term,” but believe me, January is not spring anywhere in the U.S., and certainly not in the northern part of the country.

These are all top 10 industrial engineering programs: Georgia Tech #1, Michigan #2, UC Berkeley #3, Wisconsin #7, Purdue #10. So academically in your field, you can’t go wrong. Purdue is in the least interesting town, so I’d drop that. The others all have advantages and disadvantages. My personal preferences would run to Michigan, Wisconsin, and UC Berkeley because I like the towns better than Atlanta, but others may differ.

Not sure about the others, but Michigan has a Brazilian Student Association:

and the university has made education and research partnerships with Brazilian universities a priority:

I think you’d feel very welcome there.

Thank you very much for the informations! I didn’t know about the brazilian association and about the partnerships :)

And good to know about the winter and spring term hahaha I feel less worried now

Nonstop flights on Delta Airlines from Sao Paulo to Detroit too.

UW has a large and multifaceted special program focused on Brazil

Michigan and Berkeley are the best schools so definitely include those. I would probably choose Georgia tech as the third school.

Sure, if you want to hate your life.

I see that the OP has picked UW-Madison!

Go Badgers!

Current temp in Madison is -1F. That is the high until Wednesday.

School is out for winter break another two weeks. No matter. Ann Arbor high of 0 Tuesday Low -15 and I believe they are in session right now.

I have to agree with juillet: UC Berkeley, Michigan, and Madison would be my top 3 picks.

My choices would be - UCB, Mich and GTech.
