So here's the deal... I got accepted into LSA at UMich. Great. It's my #1 school (probably tied with USC - which I'm pretty sure I got rejected to). Now here comes the problem...University of Michigan costs about $48,000 the first two years and then $51,000 the last two years as an undergraduate. My family isn't exactly...wealthy.. and so my mom said that if the University of Michigan cannot give us financial aid that would decrease the cost to about $30,000 per year, then she won't let me go. So how much does UMich usually give in financial aid? I need about 18-20k from both federal AND financial aid. From the federal aid, I've received about $7,500, so that leaves another $10,000. Does the University of Michigan Grant give this much money to their students?

I know it's a public school so they tend to give less money than private schools so I'm concerned because I really want to go to UM. My second choice after that would be Villanova (total cost of $52k) because they gave me $26,660 in their university grant...

Is there an average amount of Grant $$ that Mich has given?
