Hi everyone! I have taken the SAT two times, and the ACT 2 times. I received a 2120 and a 32 as my best scores, however, I think I can improve.

Would it look bad to take the SAT 3 times and the ACT 3 times?

3 is a fair number. And you’ll only be sending one of those scores to colleges, so it’s not like they’re going to know you took 2 different standardized tests 6 times.

A college admissions officer came by to talk to my school and she said 3 is a fair amount of times to take the SAT or ACT. If you take it more than 3 times they start to get concerned. Like the above poster said, don’t submit your SAT and ACT if you plan on retaking. Choose only 1 to send.

Actually, I’m pretty sure they can see how many times you’ve taken them every time you send a score, unless you indicate otherwise. I would look on the collegeboard website. Just remember that you can do score choice to build up your composite and to only take the tests again if you really can improve. Also, don’t forget that your class grades should always take precedence over SAT/ACT scores. I got a 2120 and since I didn’t think I could improve substantially, I decided to take SAT Subjects to bump me up in areas I knew I could excel at. Taking those tests 3 times would only look bad if your grades didn’t match, like if someone got a 2300, but only had a 2.5 GPA, because it would appear that you only care about your standardized tests. If you’ve got the ECs, the GPA and the ability to improve, I wouldn’t worry about it. Just don’t stress yourself out too much studying for them.

My first SAT was a 2020, and second a 2120. Although both my ACT’s were 32, I am sure I can improve.

My grades do match, with an unweighted 4.0 (with lots of AP’s and Honors). In addition I have many EC’s and other good values. For instance, I am school president and 3 year varsity soccer player. Also the president of 2 clubs and treasurer of the National Honors Society.

I also received an 800 on SAT II math
And the 2120 was comprised of
Math- 800
Writing- 710
Reading- 610 (I think i can improve here)

So you guys believe it is ok to take them 3 times each?

Yes, it’s okay to take them a 3rd time.
