Did anyone take this course? If so who was your prof? Have any of you heard anything about So-youn Shin or David Cru? How was the course overall-- feedback is appreciated.

i currently have david cru. he knows what he's talking about, but doesn't give a crap if you understand or not, just lectures. ask him a question, and he'll try to explain it once, you still don't get it, and he'll just move on. you get to bring a sheet with formulas on it for the tests.

for me probability is one of my worst areas in mathematics, so i had an extra hard time with this course. just thought you should know

i forgot to mention, he's only on campus 2 days a week, and in those 2 days he's on campus for several hours only. if you can make his office hours, i guess that's ok, but if you can't you really can't get any help either. His undergrad TA's don't hold office hours, and his one grad TA doesn't have office hours. It's like they want you to fail.

Thanks dude. Thing is I can't take his class either way for 2 reasons. One it is at 8:30 at night and I have orgo exams then. And two, I'll wind up having finals back to back during finals week. Have you heard anything about So-youn Shin? Thanks a lot for the input.

I am sorry that Frusion89 feels that way, I try to make every effort to be available and frequently have many students emailing me or working with me after class when they can't make office hours. As for trying to answer questions once in class and then moving on there is material that needs to be covered during class, so if the student doesn't get the answer they need I'd hope that they would come up to me at the end and ask. Students that do that will generally see that I'll do whatever I can to help them understand.

To be honest I appreciate the posts I will try to do a better job of answering questions clearly in class. Sometimes when I just answer once it is because I am hoping that some of the stuff that comes later in the lecture may make things clearer. I guess that is not always the case.

Would anyone be able to put up a syllabus from this course so that I may get a better idea of what to expect? Thanks.

Does anyone have any practice exams or notes or anything from the course that you could email me? Thanks.

Btw can you recommend any good review books
