AMSA conference!

anyone thinking about going to the conference in american river college, sacramento in october? i am going cuz i got a fee waiver. i wonder if anyone else is interested...cnn senior medical correspondent dr. sanjay gupta is one of the speakers!! :)

AMSA ARC Annual Pre-Medical and Pre-Public Health Conference 2008 - Welcome

pleeeeeeeease lemme know if anyone is interested.

what is the best way to go to sacramento? is plane a hassle or too expensive? is driving too long? if a plane is more worth it, how can i find the cheapest flight? i have never been there...advice please?

thanks.

Are you in SoCal? Sac Int’l Airport is easy to navigate, and Southwest often has cheap flights between LA and Sacramento. The drive is ~8 hours from LA (I go the opposite way to visit my grandparents in Torrance - I live in Davis, 15 minutes from Sac). The drive stinks if you don’t have enjoyable company. The flight is quick. I’m waiting for the high-speed rail connection!

don’t drive. you’ll kill yourself. interstate 5 is boring as hell, and if it isn’t boring, there’s some accident clogging up the whole thing.

fly southwest, book it over 2 weeks in advance for the best fares.

a third option, if you hate driving and don’t want to pay for flying, is amtrak. if you take amtrak, it should be around a year to get up to sacramento…

I-5 around Sacramento is getting a makeover, also, so for driving (including coming in from the airport), check out [FIX I-5 PROJECT | FixI5.com](http://www.fixi5.com/).

*** are you in normal AMSA? If so, then you haven’t been particularly active.

how do you become more active in AMSA?

how would u know, mrMOO, that i am not an active member of AMSA unless u know who i am in real life? hmm.. no i am not in normal AMSA. anyone in normal AMSA at ucla coming?

everyone here knows who you are, dwm. seriously.

How could you not? Agreed.

lol…the question is…do i know u ppl who know me?

okies, for those who don’t know me, i’m going to the conference hehe. carpool anyone? XD

you don’t know who i am. but i know who you are. freaky, isn’t it ;)

seriously, most of CC is an interconnected web of CC’ers who know other CC’ers who know other CC’ers… it’s like 6 degrees of separation condensed into 2 or 3…

dwm, one of the girls here was actually one of your suitemates. and another CCer works with you on the daily bruin news team. s/he pointed you out to me during -30-.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yup. We all know who you are. What AMSA are you in? Theres UCLA AMSA and National AMSA, most people are in the latter, which automatically gives you membership to the former.

to funnyman, sign up for events with the diff committees, sign up for AIDS walk with me! Join the Global Health Committee!! =D

omg pink was in -30-?! ru going next year? u should introduce urself as pink someday… small world!

… and it was sooo fun that night… hehehe. :)

i’m not in any AMSA, mrmoo. i just heard about the event from the physci listserv email… do i need to be in AMSA to be part of the event? if so, the online registration didn’t say so. i’ll prolly join AMSA if it’s not time consuming and if it’s very worthwhile. don’t wanna kill myself w/ massive time consumption.

i think i’ll pass, dwm. i don’t want to catch any of your neurotic-premed cooties.
