I've heard good things about AMSCO and was planning on getting it for APUSH this year. However my teacher recommended REA to us today because she "follows its outline when planning out the course." Would this make it worth getting? Is two review books too much? Help me out CC! :)

Idk about what u want to do with ur teacher but for the test, AMSCO is enough

I used REA last year because it was recommended by my teacher although, I have to admit I didn’t use it as much as I had intended. I mainly used the American Pageant (the actual textbook) to review for the test, which was sufficient and more comprehensive for me. But REA APUSH book is definitely helpful and breaks the sections nicely based on thorough analysis of each topic relevant to the time era (which is a plus when it comes to FRQs). The practice tests are somewhat helpful (some have recycled questions from last APUSH exams that may show up on the actual exam itself). But it’s gets a little repetitive between the exams - most of the time, people in class just memorized the answers from practice test to practice test- Not the best method, IMO.

But I would definitely suggest AMSCO a bit more than REA, if feasible because it has better reviews and a nicer format. (REA is kinda like notes all over the place). With that said, you can’t really go wrong with either. The biggest difference, regardless of your resources, will be how you choose the utilize them and more importantly, the slice of time you have from now till the AP exam. Good Luck!
