AMSCO for SAT US

I used amsco and only received a score of 740. I want a 780+, i am rereading AMsco, but when i took the test in may i felt like the SAT 2 focuses on different parts and goes more in depth on some subjects and less on others.

Can you guys recommend me a book to complement my amsco book? I also want one with lots of questions too.

I’ve got AMSCO + Crash Course + Barron’s.

I guess Barron’s is pretty good but the model tests are ridiculously difficult.

I was wondering the same thing amman! I studied with AMSCO and got a 740 and am now trying to get really close to 800.

Well all I did was read Crash Course a few times over and got a 790. It was very helpful.

Did you read any other books Dagol12 or just Crash Course?

Yeah, crash course was good for sat iis… for aps, not so much

S. received an 800. He used mostly CRASH (read it twice) and his text, Passages. I bought him Barrons AP US History which he skimmed and took their MC questions. He took the Ap right after the SATII.

I had the AMSCO book but I didn’t read it when preparing for the SAT II. All I did was read Crash Course a few times, and take 2 practice tests (one from the 10 Real SAT II’s book and the other from the Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests <—both of which are pretty accurate indicators of your level/score.)

Do you mean the REA US History Crash Course book? It says it’s based on the AP exam, but you are recommending it for the SAT Subject Test?

Yes the REA US History Crash Course book. I think it actually did better on the SAT II then on the AP.

I just used the REA AP test prep book and looked over a few of my class notes, and I got a 790.

I am reading AMSCO and Sparknotes SAT II US history book. Aiming for 800 this June.

800 on the SAT II for American History
All I did was read crash course.

The only reason why crash course was a little weaker on the APUSH exam was because they’re changing the APUSH exam to be even more difficult. The format is in the process of changing completely – that’s what my history teacher told me. It’s going to be very different by 2012, like the multiple choice questions will be even more difficult than they were this year on the APUSH exam. But content-wise, it’s the same. Crash Course helped me SO much on the APUSH exam as well, but this time around, it really put me off to a good start on my SAT Subject tests ^_^.
