I'm going to be going down to san diego later this month on amtrak. as far as i can figure out i can go to 3 stations: glendale, LAX, and union station. which one takes the least amount of time from ucla? id leave here around 10 30 probably. thanks!

From UCLA, I think either LAX or Union Station is going to be the closest. I took Bus 2 from UCLA to the red line, which took me to Union Station. The whole process took me 1 hours 15 minutes.

So ask other people about the other option.

amtrak goes to LAX?

Amtrak doesn't go to LAX - there's a bus from LAX to Union Station (the 'FlyAway' or something like that).

omg, bus 2?

I got stuck in Sunset blvd today. My car moved just 1 inch in about 20 minutes. I spent 3 hours from ucla to downtown LA...

Union Station to San Diego. The best way to get downtown is to take the bus from UCLA to the Red Line (North Hollywood) and then the Red Line directly to Union.

The 20/21 bus goes down Wilshire...you can get off at Wilshire/Normandie and hop on the Red Line. Definitely not recommended during rush hour. Avoid Wilshire at all costs during rush hour....Sunset too.

Fridays starting at 2PM is rush hour already. So watch out. I think it's about 3:30 for weekdays.
