An 800 on SAT II, but FAILED the AP?!?!?

So, while flooding my mind with the anxiety in this thread, I thought of something: what if someone took both the AP French (or any other AP) and the SAT II French (or the corresponding SAT II) about a month after and ended up with substantially disparate scores like 800:2 ?

How would top schools view this discrepancy?

Would it be better to not report the AP score? How would colleges view this?

Would the 800 be considered more heavily with a strong French (or x subject) curriculum and related extracurriculars?

Thanks in advance for considering this quixotic situation! :)

In such cases, I would not report the AP score. If you one were to report it, though, admissions officers would likely dismiss it.

Thanks! Thats what I had thought, but I wasn’t sure. Im still waiting for my scores (South Florida), but there were a few things that went awfully wrong during the test.

1) The listening section CD was played on an ANCIENT CD player, boombox, or more like a victrola (is this CB regulation?), and it was played in a gym, which made the acoustics horrible. Not to mention, I was assigned a seat in the back, which sucked, since the artifact was at the front, and I already mentioned how under-endowed it was. Last, the CD skipped, and words were swallowed whole.

2)The voice recording machine had crud in the microphone, and I tried taking it out, but I just pushed it in more. I asked for another one, but there weren’t anymore.

3) I have ATROCIOUS handwriting (way to prove the Medical-profession-aspiring-student stereotype wrong!) But this is my own neglect. Lol.

4) I’m not a native speaker.

In the new common app there are 8 spots for SATII and AP/IB scores , I guess. So if you self report AP scores to fill the spots with the best scores - say 3 SAT II and 5 APs all 5- how would you not report the official AP scores amd hide a so-so AP score of say 3?

^ I think there are separate places for SAT, SAT II, ACT, and AP scores on the Common App.

That being said, what if I have 8+ AP scores?

The new common app has space for SAT-I separately, but SAT II and APs have just one common area.

If you have too many AP tests you can list it under additional information.

I gotta say, having taken both the French AP and SAT II this year, I find it hard to believe that even if you did screw up the speaking section and didn’t score quite as high as you could have on the essay, if you got an 800 on the SAT II then you’ll get higher than a 2 on the AP.

I know that doesn’t answer your question, but I just wanted to add my two cents because that’s what we do here on the internet.

Thanks, everybody!!! I ended up getting a 5 in French, and my other 4 AP’s. =) Totally unexpected, but $#!T happens.
