An additional language or an elective?

I am trying to figure out whether I should start taking Mandarin Chinese during my sophomore year or whether I should instead take an elective such as chorus. I want to take Mandarin Chinese mainly as an additional course to look good on my resume. I am very capable of adding addition Mandarin work to my Spanish and other class work, but I was told by my Spanish teacher that unless I plan to pursue it after high school, it's not worthwhile adding another language.

Is it worthwhile to take an additional language? Or should I instead take another elective? How good does adding a third language look for colleges?

Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Mandarin chinese looks way better than any elective

in 40 years all of asia AKA half the globe, will speak mandarin

it makes you prepared for the future and a language is always a huge dedication adcoms know that

Are you already taking a foreign language or would Mandarin be your first one?

if you’re passionate about singing and good at it, pick chorus. Otherwise, pick Mandarin. You don’t know what major you’ll want to pursue and these days studying in China is very hot, including for internships.
