An admission decision will be available on December 3, 2008

That's what your application status will say if you have all of your paperwork in to FSU.

I have a question, D is taking the ACT again on October 25th, can I send those score reports to FSU even though the cut-off date is today? They already have 2 other scores from June and September.

Well, this is what my son's app. status states in the Test Scores section -

*"If you have taken the SAT and/or ACT more than once, the results listed above reflect the most recent test date and the best scores in each section. Any results received after the deadline for a given notification date will not be considered in that particular admission decision." *

Ok thanks, I didn't read that far. That's what it says under test scores for D too.

Last year, it also said that but they DID consider scores from exams taken before the deadline but whose scores came in not long after. I do not think they will consider the ACT scores from Oct 25th though, as the exam date is after the deadline.

Is there any way they'll give you a decision before Dec 3? I'm just wondering..because I heard back from UCF very early.

UCF is on rolling admissions. If you are highly qualified, they let you know in like 2 weeks. FSU tells everybody on the same date for the same decision period.

^^^^No, FSU will NOT give you an answer before they go online with the decisions. UCF is rolling admissions, and FSU is not. I would say this is hard and fast. THe two schools use an entirely different approach to admssions. FSU wants to see all of the applicants before they decide during each decision period. For UCF, it is not quite as competitive, and if your GPA and scores are above a certain level, your in and they just tell you.

29 days until Dec 3. I have a countdown timer on my cell phone.

I took the ACTs on October 25, 2008 and I just checked my online status and my ACT scores are in fact on my application. I think as long as you reported that you were taking the ACTs on a later date when you submitted the application (it asks you), FSU will consider those scores.

but I'm not 100% sure.

Welcome to the board, eauxmar. :)

My nephew received a THE letter on Saturday, indicating his acceptance. So it could happen sooner than you think (by try not to think about it).

Jasmom, is your nephew a FTIC freshman? What semester did he get accepted for? Was the letter in the US mail, or email? Did his online status update prior to getting the letter?

Congratulations to your nephew too!

Jasmom, he needs to apply for housing ASAP. Get the all-important housing priority number in hand, even if he's going off campus.

I am VERY surprised he received such notice before the date.

I think transfer students found out early because my friend goes to Santa Fe and got accepted already.

P2N is right on it with the housing priotity reminder. last year, we waited up until midnight and then went right to the housing login (instead of the status page). we discovered that our s was able to sign up for housing which meant he had been accepted. he ended up with number 6.

one thing that confused us, and you can check in advance by calling the housing department is that last year, when you signed up for housing, payment was not required right away. you had like 2-3 days after the decision day to make a housing deposit.

this confused us, because, we kept trying to figure out how to make a deposit for housing the night of the decision and wasn't sure if the housing request had gone through.

if its anything like last year, as long as you complete the housing application and submit, you should be good to go. the only info you need to know to complete the housing app (and you can change it later) is the dorm selection and if you lsiten to music when studying.

hope this helps.

Letters have not gone out to those applying as freshman for summer 09 or fall 09.. The only letters are transfer students/those offered spring admission.

I don't know what FTIC is, but the letter came via mail, with the announcement of a scholarship. He'll be a freshman and was applying for fall. (I guess it's possible it was just the scholarship letter, but they indicated to me that it was both). Thanks for the tip about housing. I'll pass it along. And thanks for the congrats. It's been a VERY difficult year for him, and this is a much needed victory.

jasmom,

FTIC = First Time in College, i.e. freshmen applying who have never attended a post-secondary institution (in most cases, this doesn't include Dual Enrollment).

Nice job, jasmom! I was just wondering if normally our acceptance package will have any scholarships offers with it, or does the scholarship notification come in a different package?

Wish I had more details. Hang in there and good luck!
