An American's Chance?

So I'm from Virginia but I'm really interested in McGill, it's a great school and I'd like to know if I stand a chance. I've never been to Montreal (or Canada, for that matter) so if you could tell me any cultural differences there are as well, that'd be great? Also, my French isn't very good (as in I can hold a very slow conversation), but will I still be able to "function" in Montreal?

*county changed grading system this year, previously a 6-pt scale, now 7-pt. with added weights to honors courses (.5) and APs (1.0), hence the inflation.

I think you have a chance, but I believe EC’s are of no consideration at Mcgill - only scores and transcripts. As for the French, do not worry at all. My French is quite good but as soon as Montrealers hear my accent, they switch to English - much to my chagrin.
