An anal question for you...

On the envelopes that we give teachers, do I write my address as the return address, or should I leave that area blank for the teacher to fill in his address?

Thanks!

No, not an anal question -- I'm glad you brought it up, as I myself don't know for sure. For most other application materials, I would say, yes, go ahead and put your address on there, but the confidential nature of these letters might make it a better idea to put a school-related address on it. Just make sure it will actually GET to the teacher in due time if it bounces back for one reason or another. You wouldn't want your letter to never get to your schools, would you?

I'd say put your school's address on it.

Leave the return address blank. Your teachers will fill it out.

Hmm...some conflict of opinion. They all make sense too. I guess there is no conventional method. Any other ideas?

I just sent a package of recs to one of my teachers. You leave them blank. They fill out their home address or the school, whatever they want.

If you're applying to 15 different schools, I'd say ask your teacher what they would like you to do and then fill it out accordingly. This way they won't have hand cramps after writing their addresses 15x over.

They'll get cramps from filling out the 15 recs before they get them from writing 2 lines of text.

Yeah, on that note...I always filled out the max possible on my teacher recs (like their names, info, positions) so that they wouldn't have to do that themselves. And I made a table for my teacher on which applications were due when, with what forms (Common App, etc). She was really grateful for it, because it made the process much easier for her.

Thanks for all the help!

If we are planning to apply to quite a few schools, would it be better to give them all the forms at once, or spread them out? I don't want to scare them off too quickly...
