An application reality check

The schools give YOU a deadline for getting your stuff in....they understand that some info from schools will be late sometimes

When they get your application it has to be removed from envelope, sorted, a folder created and labled, any other previous information received matched up , like SAT scores, and this take TIME...it all doesn't happen in a day, so there are piles of envelopes, printouts, etc that have to be put together, filed, and THEN entered into a database..do you honestly think that a teacher rec a couple of days later than YOUR application day is going to be a big issue...for schools with solid deadlines, they don't start reviewing the day after the application is due, so those that are mad at teachers, freaking out about other recommendations, take care of your stuff first...

next AFTER the files are mostly complete, IF things are missing, someone has to input that, or create a letter or email and gives the applicant a chance to get what is missing in....schools KNOW it is the holidays, school breaks etc., they want YOUR stuff in so they can get the files started, get the bulk of the packets ready, etc

that way, when the rec does arrive, it can be logged in and filed

my goodness, does no one even THINK anymore how this stuff is done...it is YOUR application in by the deadline that is paramount, the school understand some stuff is out of your control, and will not be mad at you for it.

eat a cookie

I understand that for the most part. But I have one teacher that's going to send in his rec 3-4 weeks late since he just "doesn't feel like doing anything for the holidays."

how abruptly put lol

your teacher/gc wil be given a professional courtesy by college if their stuff is a little late because colleges know that they are doing this for multiple students in addition to balancing the demands of their job (in addition the college will calll the GC if necessary).

However, they are reluctant to excuse a student turning in late stuff because it may demonstrate a lack of caring on the students part.
