An average student - Where to apply?

<p>Hi, I am an international student, willing to apply in mechanical engineering is any US college. My toefl score is 95. My high school GPA is quite good, 4.7 out of 5.0 (5 scale GPA system). I am going to take the SAT 1 in this May and I think I will not get more than 1950. But fact is I can't pay more than $10,000 a year in tuition (including room,board etc.) That means I need quite a good amount of financial aid. Can anyone help me by giving some school name where I can apply? Give me some particular school name where I can apply with those statistics and can afford my tuition fees.</p>

<p>Hmmmm… Well, you need to improve on that score… 1950 won’t probably get you into the best schools in the US. What about your ECs and Essays?</p>

<p>@ahoy, Thank you, but I am not into best schools, and I know I am not good enough for those IVY league. Any tier 1 school will do. Even tier 2 will be good if I get enough financial aid. My extra curricular activity is not so great. I play soccer and badminton. I Played for high school soccer team and a divisional lower league team. I am a cultural organizer of my school’s alumni association and worked for few organization as a volunteer. Nothing big or special. So I guess my ec’s not going to help me much. But My essay writing is quite okay, I am not worried about that and I can work on that until I start applying. This is mostly about the money I am worried about. :frowning: Can you help me with this?</p>

<p>Most colleges here in New Mexico offer good financial aid + scholarships. New Mexico State University is a particularly good school for ME. The SUNYs (State University of New York) also has reasonable tuition and good financial aid (Albany, Binghamton, Geneseo).
