An easy question

Hello, I'm currently in my first semester at a California CC and I've been stressing about a little detail for some time now. If I could get some clarification, I would be grateful.

I scan through many threads and folks say they are applying to multiple UC's (like 4+) for majors that require an average amount of major required courses at each particular school. For example, if I were to transfer to UCLA as a history major, assist.org has a list of history major classes to choose from, and I would need to complete at least four of them for entry into the major.

Now that's not bad, but how can you apply to so many universities where universities have sometimes drastically differing major-requirement courses? If I applied to UCI, UCLA, UCSD, and UCSB, I would need a huge combination of classes specified on assist.org just to be eligible! Unless I'm missing something; I know this question is foolish but if somebody could help, it would help relax.

You have to complete as many of them as possible. Lacking major prerequisites sometimes = you’re doomed :)

But I don’t quite get it. If you apply to most schools as 1 major, say history, the prerequisites shouldn’t be different much! Generally, it would be 4 or 5 history courses, IGETC, and/or electives or some courses of interests :)

If it is the case like you said (major prerequisites differ a lot from school to school), then your best bet is to spend an extra year at CC instead of 2 ;)

Or just simply narrow down your choices. If you have a good GPA and TAG to a middle tier school, say Davis, why even bother applying to other middle-tier schools? No offense here, but TAG to the school you want most, and you are in as long as you satisfy all the requirements.

Yes, I’ll probably tag UCSB and try to make it into UCLA. Its just that the limited availibility of classes and the whole transfer process makes it very overwhelming =(
Maybe some other history major who managed to make it into either UCSB or UCLA can give some insight?

Trust me, it’s not that overwhelming. Plus, you can take classes at other schools as well. There are many CCs that offer online history classes like Foothill, De Anza, DVC, SMC, MiraCosta, etc.

I know lots of history majors make it in 2 years :). Most 3-years are engineering or bio, so don’t freak out.
