Yeah I wouldn’t necessarily call it embarrassing, lol

Because of the schools you are applying to, I would recommend retaking (not strongly) to get your CR scores up, so the superscores look good.

Looking at your school choices, it looks like you’re more of a science/engineering oriented person, so retaking to get CR or Writing up isn’t necessarily a must

…you mean 2190/2400. that’s a pretty decent score. how is that embarassing? 1stedition, you should just shut up. i don’t think it is enough for MIT or anything, but a 2190 is alright. retake it if you want to to improve your CR score

Well yeah he got that out of 2400, but that’s a given. People normally put their CR+M score/CR+M+W score in that format. Because everyone knows 2190 is out of 2400 and not 1600…

I think you should retake. The list of places where you are applying, a good score would help. You need a lots of practice SATs is all I can say.

Well I think for MIT and Caltech your score is in the middle 50 percent but i’m not sure u can get in, that depends on your luck.
As for other unis/colleges, u r safe to go trust me hehe… well as long as u don’t want a scholarship or anything…

Those truly are embarrassing. I would invest in a class or an SAT prep book if you truly want to take it again. I don’t think the SAT is your test =/

In terms of Purdue I think you’d get in maybe with a scholarship depending on your major. For Engineering, it would probably be tough for a scholarship since of the program’s reputation internationally. However, admission wise you will be fine. Honestly, I think your SAT score is superb and you should take into account many users/posters on CC have high scores. Like no offense to anyone, but many of you are like bookworms for sure. I didn’t exceed 1200 on my Math/CR and I got into Purdue with a 3.0 GPA but many people thought I wouldn’t. So just have your head up and do your apps. early and then just wait and hope for the best.

Ok, I understand that I made the choice to sign up for college confidential…but I just have to ask in what UNIVERSE is a 2190 EMBARRASSING. So ya wanted to do better, my apologies; but i confess to finding that type of assertion mildly offensive. You did wonderfully. If you want to do better study more-- it’s really that simple. While I admire your obvious ambition, try to get some perspective. You are more than (to quote DeLillo) the sum total of your data.

c’mon people please stop freaking doing this. you know that your scores are well above average, and you’re just saying its embarassing to grab attention and boost your ego. its not necessary. your making others feel bad.

if you want to sincerely ask for advice, do it, but dont be a jerk and say stuff like “omg im so embarassed of my 99th% score”

My scores for CR and Writing went down the second time I took it, how would the Ivies school interpret or use the scores? CR went down 70 points and Writing 10 points. Would that be treated as really bad or they don’t care and just take the highest scores from each section no matter of the dates I took the test? Please give your most honest opinion on this. Also, should I take it again for the Third time?

I’d retake it, only because I was talking to an MIT admissions counselor and she told me that they consider everything in ranges of 200 each. I’d assume other schools use ranges too.

This means that a 2200 would be a lot better than a 2190.

Looking at your aims, I wouldn’t stress it too much, but would still take it again.
