An entire semester of P/NP classes

I just decided to change my major to English, and I'm taking a full semester of classes which are outside the English major and which won't count for any other university requirements. I've changed the grading option for all these classes to P/NP.

I realize that this will probably look terrible on my transcript, especially since I will probably not pass a few of the classes.

Are my chances shot for grad school?

How terrible will this look to employers?

(Also, is this question better suited to some other forum on CC?)

Thanks.

Why won’t you pass a few of your classes…?

You’d be best served speaking to an academic counselor right away, because most degree programs don’t ALLOW more than one class a term to be P/NP. So if the system allowed it, it was in error.

Yes, you should definitely speak with someone about this ASAP. It may work out, but checking with an adviser is the best way to know for sure.

As for grad school, I can imagine it won’t look phenomenal, but most employers won’t see that as a weakness.

If you’re switching to English (I don’t know what year you are), you most definitely want to take senior year. It’s a lot of work, but the skills you develop really change you.
