An essay to increase chances for waitlist?

I've applied to 10 colleges, and I've been neatly rejected by 5 colleges and waitlisted by 5 colleges, Williams included.

So at the moment I am all into Williams, and I have some awards and activities which could help.

But do you think that it is a good idea to write an essay about how the rejections have crushed my vanity, look back into my life, and propelled me to try my best in life? The outline may sound fake, but this is what i genuinely felt. What I'm afraid is that Williams might find it fake and decrease my chances.

What do you think?

PS. I am a Korean living in Sri Lanka, applying for aid with $8000 EFC.

No. Update adcom only with new information that might give them a fuller picture of your achievements. If there is none, then politely let them know of your continuing interest, as I’m sure you have.

Hey Bakjewel!!! wow we are in the same freaking boat, I was rejected by 5 schools and wait listed by 2, so right now I’m doing everything I can to get off the lists,(I’m also international from South America needing a lot of financial aid) any way, I backup mythmom , and I don’t think that is smart to submit another essay!! I think that you should write a letter and an update of your achievements!! best of luck.

Hey bakjewel,

Last year when I was doing the whole college admissions shenanigan, I sent a letter to the school I was deferred from Early Decision discussing exactly why I wanted to go there, and why it was a great fit for me. I would definitely send along a small letter/essay (DEFINITELY do not make it too long) detailing why Williams is the perfect fit for you, and why you, as a unique candidate for admission, think you would thrive at the school. Don’t sound arrogant or anything, and I would recommend you do not discuss how rejections crushed your vanity, etc., that unfortunately does come off as fake and cliched. I’m sure the adcoms would rather read a brief essay about your great interest in Williams. Also, indicate that Williams is your top choice in the essay: that will help!
Good luck with admission!

Agree with all the above. Send any new accomplishments, and a letter why Williams…

Thank you all! A “Why Williams” it is

I agree, send an essay like that.
