The simple explanation... They will cater to the student needs beyond a general practitioner for more specialized medical needs. No need to go home for treatment.

I wouldn't bet on any managed care insurance plan covering the expenses, though.

Can't plastic surgery be a lot more than nose jobs and liposuction? I know when my youngest daughter got a severe facial laceration a few years ago, the clean up and stitching was done by a plastic surgeon. He did a real nice job. The scarring was minimal. I am pretty confident it would have turned out differently with just a random ER intern or resident doing it.

Most plastic surgery is not "cosmetic" plastic surgery. If you seriously wound your hand for example, you want a plastic surgeon to stitch you up, so that your hand works the same afterwards. Plastic surgeons work includes reconstruction of muscle systems etc., not just closure of wounds.

Yes...thank you, blairt and others...for feeding the fears and phobias I opened up about in the "Dark Side" thread. This is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I don't think that Andover students can pop into the health center and get a nose job.

However: scar removal (I had this done by a PS) and delicate nerve work aren't always covered by the school's policy. I think Andover is trying to show that they do cover it?

ithink this is a good sign, it means that the hospital is equipped to adequately take care of student needs, yes including boob jobs. :D just imho tho.
