Hello, this is my first post here, I hope this is in the right place.
I’m currently at a community college. Long story short, I got an F in a class this past semester. I had been doing well in the class, but I had assumed something that was a big portion of my grade was extra credit when it was not and I did not find out about it until the teacher expressed surprise at my not turning the project in. It’s unfortunate, but I admit that it was completely my fault and I told the teacher as much (I didn’t make up any excuses about why I failed to turn it in). My major is English and the class was Sociological Minority Studies, so it wasn’t that it was something entirely vital to my major focus (it was a class recommended to me by my counselor last year when I thought I’d be able to transfer out of state, I have since found out it will be too expensive and I will be shifting my focus to a state university here in California.) I’d do the obvious and retake the class for a better grade, but they’re not offering it in Spring 2017 Hopefully they’ll offer it again in fall next year. There’s a good chance I’m going to have to explain this hiccup on my transcript away in an essay when I transfer, but what would I even say? I understand they value honesty, but it feels like saying “I didn’t even know I was supposed to turn this in” wouldn’t come across very well.
Thanks for any help.
