Now, when you’re chanced, some people may say what you’d want to hear, and some may say the opposite, which is what one should expect when they submit a thread.
But in the end, what they say has zero effect on your actual application. Don’t allow what people say to hype you up too much or bring your hopes down. Chancing is, indeed, a fun way for people to rate your possibility of getting into certain schools, but just remember that the true power is in the hands of the admissions staff, and they might think completely differently than those who rate you, for better or for worse.
My point is that anything can happen, and that those who participate in chancing should take everything they hear with a grain of salt. Of course, I’m not discouraging chancing, I take part in it myself. It really is fun to hear what other people think of your abilities and accomplishments and how they think things’ll turn out in the end. But opinions are still only opinions.
I express my thoughts because seen a number of people who seemed hurt by some peoples’ opinions. To those people, keep your hopes up. The college admissions process is full of surprises! I’ve seen people with 4.5’s get rejected from UCLA and some with high 3.0-range GPA’s get in.
So, as I said, don’t lose all hope, but also don’t become too engorged with the idea that you’ll get into the school of your dreams. What you need to do is stay positive and think to yourself “Hey, whatever happens happens, and if I keep working hard and trying my best, things will go my way.”
